What to post on social media during this pandemic.

1. Stay witty and smart without being distasteful which sometimes can be a difficult task. Do not, I repeat DO NOT jump on a trend e.g. the toilet paper hoarding bandwagon because you think it will go well for your page. Ask yourself this instead, what does my business offer and how can it help / entertain / inform people during these times?

2. Be one of three things - empathetic, knowledgeable or fun. Or if you are a schmart cookie - a combination of all three. Acknowledge what is going on and be transparent. If it is taking you more time to establish your new business model and get everything organised, let your clients know you will update them when everything is online and ready to rumble. It is a hard time for everyone, so honesty can be refreshing.

3. Adapt and innovate. If your business is already online, create an exciting promo that people can’t say no to. For example, if you are offering alcohol online, how about pairing with a local business who cooks homemade ready to eat meals with free or small cost delivery. How could people say no to homemade meals and wine delivered to their doorstep?! If you are a service based business and unfortunately have been closed due to the current laws and regulations, I would recommend you still continue to post on your socials. Most likely your clients / customers will be disappointed you are not open so they will enjoy knowing what you are up to and watching your pages for updates of your return. If you are struggling with what to post - how about turning your Instagram / Facebook into a valuable resource for your followers? Provide knowledge through videos, carousel posts or via your copy. For example if you are a Hair Salon, how about providing industry tips and home remedies they can follow at home to maintain healthy hair. If you are a product or based business and you are not online, use this time as an opportunity to put your business online. If COVID-19 didn’t happen, sooner or later, something else would have. We are living in the digital age and it’s going to get even more digital as time goes by, won’t it Siri?! Sometimes service based businesses are harder than others. If you are an Event Planner or something similar, once again you still should be posting! You need to stay in touch with your existing followers, so that you are at the top of their mind when the world is back to normal and they are ready to book in and rock and roll! Until then, use your platform as a fun, informative, positive presence to uplift people through all this confusion and loneliness. If I haven’t mentioned your type of business and your head is still overwhelmed with confusion on how to structure your business online through this pandemic, feel free to shoot me a message.
